  • Elegance. Style. Creativity. There’s much that the creations of MMM are synonymous with today.

For the last three decades, Madhav’s Men’s Modes has been at the forefront of power dressing in India having dressed from Prime Ministers and Presidents to the country’s leading business icons. While top actors and leading political names form a large part of our clientele, we also cater to the noveau rich from all over the country.

Real clothes for real men is what we design. From fine crafted suits and blazers to perfectly stitched trousers, shirts and kurta/pyjamas to meticulously designed dhotis, Nehru bundis, bandhgalas and sherwanis, MMM makes sure the global Indian never fails to shine when the occasion most demands.

  • Behind it all is Madhav Agasti – the master of bespoke tailoring who has dressed some of India’s most stylish men for over forty years. And Shantanu Agasti has taken the legacy forward. A management graduate from IIM Bangalore, Shantanu retains the timeless styles and designs of Madhav’s Men’s Modes while bringing in new designs and a modern outlook. Supporting them both is a technically advanced tailoring and embroidery unit run by a skilled team of cutters, tailors and workers that conjures flawlessness in quality, fit and finish day in and day out.

A second brand RAHUL AGASTI was created by the Agasti family in 2002. Madhav’s son Rahul who is a product of NIFT (National Institute for Fashion Technology) has been at the helm since its inception. Located at Juhu, Rahul Agasti has become, over the last decade, a bespoke tailoring house renowned for its fine workmanship and high quality formal clothing.

Once upon a time
Bollywood needed a
costume designer.

The rest is history...
  • Once upon a time Bollywood needed a costume designer. The rest is history.

Right from an early age, Madhav Agasti was fascinated with clothes, styles and cuts. As a schoolboy he would watch the local tailors at Nagpur and replicate their cuts on paper. His fascination soon gave way to an apprenticeship with a local shop where he worked after school hours. At 13, he was designing clothes for his friends. Despite having to drop out of college due to financial constraints his love for designing only grew.

In 1969, with a few hundred rupees in his pocket and a dream in his heart Madhav boarded a train and embarked on a journey that would change his life forever. He travelled to various cities all over the country and mastered the nuances in the art of tailoring from aligarhi payjama to achkans in Lucknow to draping lungi’s in Chennai. His journey ended in Mumbai where he started working as an assistant to a Bollywood designer. Within a year, he opened his first shop in 1975 – Madhav's Men's Modes in Dadar. His first big break came in 1979 when he got the opportunity to work on the Bollywood film Apne Parai. The turning point, however, was the blockbuster Mr India in which he designed Amrish Puri’s costume for his legendary character role of Mogambo. And the rest is history.

In 2012, Madhav's Men's Modes became MMM in a move that heralded new ideas and new designs while keeping the same quest for perfection the same.

  • Today Madhav has been associated with nearly 400 films, having dressed up Bollywood’s biggest names like Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover, Nana Patekar to name just a few. His passion, patience and eye for perfection have made him the undisputed master of customized menswear. Madhav’s clientele over the years includes leading politicians like Bal Thackarey, L K Advani, Sharad Yadav, Sharad Pawar, Nitish Kumar and this list too goes on and on. He has even designed for the boxing legend Muhammad Ali. Be it the Bollywood star, the political heavyweight or the global celebrity, there’s one common thread that runs through – the quest to give the client the perfect fit.

The perfect fit.
The perfect cut.
The perfect style.
Or you could simply
call it bespoke.

In fashion speak, bespoke refers to individually patterned and crafted men’s clothing. Unlike mass manufactured ready-to-wear clothing, every bespoke garment is created from scratch exclusively for the customer.

A suit is the most fundamental piece in a man’s wardrobe; it is the very culmination of a man’s existence. And the money spent on a suit is like an investment that will reap dividends over the years. Which is precisely why the perfect fit can never be underestimated.

In the words of Madhav “Nothing will fit you better than bespoke”. There are no droopy shoulders, no loose fits, no extra inches on the length. What’s more, the customer has a wide range of fabrics, linings and styles to choose from.

  • Bespoke tailoring is no easy task. At MMM, as many as 20 to 25 direct measurements are taken to create a full bespoke suit. After the measurements are taken, the pattern is drafted directly on the person. Careful attention is paid to how the client stands before drafting a pattern. During the tailoring process the client is called for multiple fitting sessions. All this results in a finished product that is far more personalized and precious than something produced en masse by automated production networks.

When it comes to weddings, bespoke tailoring delves even deeper into the personal choices of the groom. We make sure the choice of colours, fabrics and embroidery is in keeping with the culture and community in question. That apart, the time, season, venue, theme and scale of the wedding are all taken into consideration before designing the perfect wedding outfit.

  • The bond between a bespoke tailor and his customer is a unique one. It is more a friendship than a professional relationship; being on a first name basis is a given. It spans years, often decades. After all, a bespoke tailor designs for a person, not a mannequin. The customer puts his trust in a bespoke tailor and it is up to the tailor to validate that trust.

Elegance.
Style.
Sophistication.
Now at your doorstep.

At MMM, we are only too aware that our customers are successful professionals whose lifestyles involve long working hours and a fair bit of traveling, leaving them with little free time and little inclination to spend their limited free time trying to stitch the perfect suit. And yet, it is a fact that our male clientele has become more discerning in their choices and therefore prefer customization, especially when it comes to formal wear.

In keeping with our customers’ needs, MMM offers a unique service – The Traveling Tailor – a service that combines a curated product, styling advice and exclusive personal meetings, all at a location of your convenience.
